The candidate will participate in the IKER-GAITU project whose objective is the development of language technologies, resources and tools for Basque. The results of the project will place Basque language in a position to allow the use of AI applications also in that language.
This position is intended to create synthetic voices for Basque and to facilitate the use of synthetic voices in Basque by companies through the development of the free use of synthesis functionalities with at least one standard voice (male and female). In addition, the project will also provide personalized voice technologies that can be used from Alternative and Augmentative Communication devices. To this end, the candidate will perform the following tasks:
The candidate will work with the research group Aholab, located in the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao. The candidate will have the
possibility of attending national and international conferences.
The candidate should preferably have a BSc degree in computer science, telecommunications engineering, or physics, and a MSc in language technologies and/or machine learning. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about speech processing and have a strong background in computer science and related fields.
The applicants must demonstrate excellent communication skills in English. Knowledge of Basque will be highly valued.
Our ideal candidate has experience in machine learning, deep learning, statistical analysis and speech processing, as well as a strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python. This position is also available for candidates with a PhD.

Duration of Contract:
2 years and a half
Gross salary is between 32.300 and 37.900 euros per year, depending on the candidate profile (PhD).
